Manitou Aerial Lifts Illinois

Manitou Aerial Lifts Illinois

Numerous workplace applications would require more reach than the normal job. The telescopic and articulating booms is a good alternative for these particular situations. Bi-energy or electric or engine-powered booms are great for outdoor, indoor or rough-terrain applications, so basically, there is a suitable boom lift available for every type of job. Just take the time to figure out what kind of loads you will be handling and what types of capacities you would need to get the task done.

Articulating booms are described as aerial work platforms that use many boom parts which hinge or articulate. These machines provide a maximum reach of 6.25 meters or 21 feet 5 inches to 21.26 meters or 69 feet 9 inches. These units can vary in height between 11.14 meters and 36 feet or 43.15 meters or 141 feet. Articulated boom units are usually classified by platform height and by horizontal reach.

In order to access work places over barriers and obstacles including equipment or shelving, the articulating booms are often used. They have less horizontal outreach than telescopic booms, but the articulating booms provide better positioning and greater versatility. This enables better access for overhead work areas from aisles and from tight areas. Throughout the range of articulating booms, most of them could hold weight capacities of up to 500 lbs. or 227 kilograms. These machines can easily raise 2 operators and their tools and at times extra supplies.

There are both rough terrain and industrial articulating booms, similar to scissor lifts. Industrial models are usually outfitted with non-marking tires and are made for indoor application. Most of articulated boom manufacturers utilize clean burning fuels like DC electric power or liquid propane gas or LPG for their industrial models. AC drive system technology is popular in industrial forklifts, even though it is new to the aerial work platforms market. This technology combines DC batteries along with 3-phase AC drive motors for more drive speed and braking, continuous control of turning and overall energy efficient operation.

Rough-terrain units are specifically engineered to negotiate rugged construction site locations. With features such as lug-tread tires, diesel engines, an oscillating axle and 4-wheel drive, these specialized items are common-place on rough-terrain articulating booms. These heavy-duty add-ons are what really make these equipment able to withstand the rough settings they operate in.
