How to Utilize a Forklift
Forklifts are material handling machinery which could transport loads. The following steps outline the fundamentals of utilizing a forklift:
1 Get familiar with all the levers that are used to move and maneuver the load from place to another place. The levers can be found to the steering wheel's right side.
2 The first lever could move the tines up and down. Pulling the lever towards you moves the tines up, and pushing the lever away from you moves them down. Forks must always be kept close to the ground except when unloading or loading.
3 The two other levers work to control the forks movement left and right and to control the forks tilt. The blades are designed to tilt between 15 and 30 degrees. It is recommended that you practice prior to picking up a load. Using the second lever, pull it towards you to tilt the tines back, and push it away from you to tilt the blades forward.
4 Lever number 4 is utilized to control the side to side movement of the forks from right to left. Just move the lever in the direction of where you would like the blades to move: right in order to move the tines right and left to move the tines left.
5 Carefully approach the load. Lower the blades and carefully drive forward until the blades slide under the load. Afterward lift the blades several centimeters by pulling the lever towards you. If the load is top-heavy, you have to tilt the tines backwards a small amount for balance.
6 Warn other individuals and personnel when the forklift is approaching by honking and take safety measures by slowly taking corners and honking. Approach the area where you will be working with caution. Manipulate the levers to maneuver the load to where it is going. When the load is positioned, reverse gears and back away carefully.
7 Forklifts stop pretty much the same way as other vehicles. The brake is found to the left side of the accelerator. When stopped, shift the gear into "park."
