Forklift Classifications
Below are the classes of forklifts which describe the use and fuel choice of each type of forklift. Certification is necessary for each and every class of forklift that the operator will be using.

Class 1 - Electric Motor Rider Trucks
These forklifts come with either cushion or pneumatic tires. Pneumatic tires are recommended for outdoor use in dry conditions. The cushion tired models are made for indoor, smooth surfaces. These are electrically powered vehicles which utilize industrial batteries, which make them suitable within closed environments where the quality of air is a problem. Hoist functions and travel are controlled by transistor motor controllers. These are versatile units normally utilized everywhere from storage facility to the loading dock.

Class 2 - Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
This particular forklift is suggested for places where narrow aisles need to be negotiated. They are efficient at making the most of storage space. Their unique design makes them ideal where speed is required and for small spaces.

Class 3 - Electric Motor Hand or Hand-Rider Trucks
These are hand-controlled and battery-powered models. Making use of a steering tiller, the operator could operate the lift while standing in front of the truck. The tiller has controls mounted on top and is moved laterally to be able to maneuver the vehicle. The units which have smaller capacity use industrial batteries.
