Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names such as: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of machinery are basically a motorized type of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models as well as "Rider" versions.
Like what the name implies, the walkie model is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit while they move loads. The Rider model on the other hand, uses a small platform wherein the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent transporting of loads over extended distances within manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are highly fast and maneuverable.
It is essential to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and thus, it is not recommended to move unstable or tall loads using these machinery. A rider can be the best answer if you are looking for a cheap way of moving cargo from point A to point B. If though, you are required to move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the best choice.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machine is specially made for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the operator and the load in an effort to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are typically very narrow aisle vehicles which can operate in aisles of less than six feet. They are very handy pieces of machinery in cycle counting situations as well as during physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more common.
