Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
Roughly 200 deaths ever year are caused by mishaps which involve lift trucks, or forklifts. Proper inspection and maintenance of lift truck tires can help to reduce the risk of mishaps.

Pre-Work Inspection
The tires on the lift truck should be checked at the beginning of every shift, checked for indications of damage and wear. The air pressure inside the tires needs to be checked to make sure that the pressure is not too low. Having a tire pressure which is low could make the machinery prone to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Kinds of Tires
The selection of tire type should be based on the kind of surface on which the lift truck will be used. For indoor applications, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are best. For surfaces that are smooth, tires tend to be smaller. Bigger pneumatic tires are great for lift trucks being utilized outdoors. Pneumatic tires can grip well on surfaces which are rough because they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other factors
According to Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines, all lift trucks need some continual daily and some periodic checks that is performed each shift. The tires must be inspected again for any indication of damage, like wear or cuts.

Lift truck Safety
If you or your workers will be using forklifts, correct training in forklift safety is vital. Lift truck mishaps can lead to serious personal injuries or death and lead to unmanageable financial difficulty. Even minor mishaps can cost your business money if the lift truck or the merchandise are damaged in a mishap. Be sure you are well informed regarding forklift safety issues.
