Engine of the Lift Truck - the forklift truck is designed with a power source at the back of the machine. Various types of forklift truck have various types of engine which need varying power sources. Like for example, a forklift with an internal combustion engine could have as its power source any of the following: diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the lift truck and the most vital of all the forklift components is the frame of the truck. This forms the core of the equipment. All other forklift components are attached to the base, including the counterweight, overhead guard, axles, mast and wheels. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks could be part of the frame assembly too.
Counterweight Forklift Components - the counterweight is what allows the machine to be balanced while lifting heavy cargo. This component is made of heavy cast iron and is connected to the rear-end of the forklift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery provides balance and can work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also referred to as the operator compartment. Lift trucks would sometimes have closed cabs while others will be open to the air. There are really many parts located in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important parts like the switches, levers, operator controls, steering wheel, seats and pedals. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
