Mast
When using the lift control lever, the mast has to be moved down and up smoothly, making sure to check if the mast is moving smoothly forwards and backwards. You may have to lubricate the mast strip sliding surfaces if the sliding surfaces are binding. Also lubricate their fittings, since there is a fitting located on either side of the inner mast. The lift bracket side rollers are another lubrication spot.
Forks
The tines have to be inspected for cracks, damage and wear since worn or cracked forks can fail with out any warnings. Of course, any damaged fork means taking the truck out of service right away. If the cracks are deeper than just on the surface, they need to be replaced since they really can't be safely repaired.
